This case is a great case, don't get me wrong. Despite my 3-star overall rating, I think this is a great case. It's just the small things about that make a slightly annoying case. First of all, the case is a bit thick compared to other cases. I know that the thickness may be for more shock-protection, but it's still a bit too thick. It makes you feel like you're holding something 1.5x the thickness of the Apple iPod touch 8 GB (4th Generation) NEWEST MODEL. Many times, people have thought I was holding an iPhone instead of an iPod. Secondly, the rubber edges of this case provided a great non-slip ability, but the rubber started "degrading" after half-a-year of use, especially the the area near the volume buttons. I really wished that apple offered a bumper case for the touch like they do for the iphone 4. this is the closest that I could find.
The beautiful thing about the touch is how slim it is. I wanted to avoid adding thickness to my device but protect it from falls. The plastic case back does add some thickness. It doesn't add much, but you notice it (probably adds 1/3 of the thickness of the ipod itself). I wish they had made it thinner.
I like that the back is clear. I slipped a business card in there in case I lose it and an honest person finds it. It seems to protect the device fairly well. It should be $5, but we're all accustomed to paying too much for stuff like this, and $20 isn't as bad as some others. I guess it's worth it because my paranoia about dropping the ipod is diminished.
