Summary: Best Cover for the Beach! 2009-12-26
Comment: If you take your Kindle to the beach or by the pool, this cover is a MUST. I used it in Hawaii where there is lots of sand and sudden rain. I felt my Kindle was safe and secure. I could have sold a ton of them to the other beach Kindle users. I have another cover for everyday use in the house. Most people have more than one jacket, why shouldn't your Kindle??

Summary: Kindle DX Beach Time Cover 2009-09-14
Comment: I had read about how there wasn't a slit opening to charge the Kindle with this cover. Of course not! If it did, it would allow in sand and splashing water. I used this all summer on the beach. Before that, I was using a gallon size One Zip baggie when we were on the beach (which I must say works pretty well). However, the plastic on the baggies get scratched, and you have to throw it out and use a new one. That's not very 'green'. This OCTO Splash Proof Case was perfect for beach reading. It seals very tightly around the Kindle and has a clear screen that is quite easy to see through and is not a hindrance to reading. I didn't test it with splashing, but for sitting on the beach, it was terrific.

Comment: I found this product to be too hard to work with. I had to remove it to turn the kindle on/off. I had to totally remove to charge. It has become an item in my closet.

Comment: The splash proof cover is the only one on the market that I know of. The idea is great! However, when the Octo arrived, It was disappointing to have it not fit on my Kindle. The frame is crooked and the buttons on the skin do not line up with the buttons on the Kindle. Its probably functional but way too annoying to look at. So I've requested a replacement.

With my Sony PRS-505 I use a gallon size ziplock back to take it into the bath, but the ziplock isn't actually clear, and is much bigger than the actual e-reader.
This Octo case is very clear (however reflective) and much easier to read through.
The multi way stick is relatively hard to use through the case (as is the on/off slider) so I would recommend setting up the book and turning on the device before sliding it into the case.
