Product Review

The new Sportsuit Convertible is the ideal 3-in-1 case for anyone who desires versatility and a cool look. Stretchy lycra encases your iPod while the orca-skin provides a comfortable, ultra-cool feel to the touch. The patented Multidapt system gives added versatility, allowing for the use of the included stretchable armband and belt clip, or a variety of car and bike solutions (sold separately). Simply remove the clip or armband and the lycra and orca-skin provide a perfect, slim sleeve for carrying or placing in a bag. All this, an included key pouch and easy access to all iPod nano 4G functionality truly makes the Convertible 3 cases for the price of one.

I love Marware products for iPod because they are so versatile. I owned the same Marware case but for the 3G nano and the plastic clip pretty much broke into pieces, the quick release design to remove the belt clip is pretty much not quick release because you have to use a pointy object to push down the release button, which can be hard to access even with a pointy object--not quite quick release at all if you think about it. This quick release eventually broker over time, about 6 months of use, which finally made it easy to slide the belt clip on/off. But over time that belt clip pretty much broke into even more pieces and eventually stopped working because the slide rails broke off and wouldn't hold it in place.

I now have the 4G nano case and the belt clip is designed the exact same way. Also, I noticed there is no pre-cut hole for the hold button, so it's impossible to switch the hold off without taking the iPod out of the case--how annoying!

I have purchased 2 of these Marware Convertible Sportsuits for my iPod Nano 4G and probably will buy a 3rd one very soon. Unfortunately, they don't seem to last long. I purchased my first one in May 2009, used it 5-6 times a week for workouts, and had to buy a new one by October 2009 because the "hook" part of the velcro had literally worn out and wouldn't attach to the "loops" any more. The 2nd one has held up OK, but now I'm thinking about buying another, because the velcro strap has come mostly detached from the neoprene armband, probably due to the crappy glue they used to put it together.

Why do I keep buying this armband, if it keeps falling apart? Well, it's primarily because I sweat A LOT when I work out, and the case attachment configuration keeps my iPod off my arm and away from the moisture, which is the enemy of the iPod. I also like that I can detach the case and just use the clip, instead of the armband. This is something I did most of the winter, when I...Read more

I bought a Marware for the wife a year ago or so and decided to get one for myself as well. I really have no complaints about the product, it basically does what it states it should do. Both the belt clip and armband work great. I workout maybe 3-4 times a week at the gym (weights & aerobics) and I've never had any problem with listening to my ipod nano using the armband OR the belt clip. The only tricky thing is I also have an invisible shield for my nano so with the protective covering, it's a little tricky pushing it into the armband sleeve, so I tend to leave it in there because of that. So a little more wiggle room might be nice, but if you don't have a protective covering on the nano, it should work perfectly.
