DLO Video Shell Case for iPod touch 1G (Clear)

If you need a nice polycarbonate case for your iPod, this is one. If you need a kickstand for your iPod, this has one. If you want something that shows off the iPod's natural looks, this does that.

If you're a brute who doesn't read instructions, don't get this: You'll break it.

If you think this will protect your iPod from being dropped, don't get this: You'll break it.

If you think this is meant to be anything but a case to protect your iPod Touch while it's in your pocket, don't get this: You'll break it.

This is a nice case, but it's not meant to take abuse or stand against the hordes of Sparta. It's a plastic case that snugly fits your iPod Touch, and requires a vinyl film (included) or Invisible Shield or Best Skins Ever to protect the screen. I bought this case because I thought the kickstand was a good idea. Trouble is, other factors were so negative that I had to return the case.

1) The case is NOT easy to remove once you get it on. If you want to use it in most speaker systems, you have to remove the case. Be careful, or you'll break the case trying to get it off.

2) I found the button cover for the on-off switch pushed slightly on the switch, causing it to spontaneously turn off or on.

3) The thickness of the case make it a little more difficult to type letters that are near the edge of the screen like Q and P. This is true of all thick cases, however.

4) Pocket dust collects under the case

I'm going back to my leather flip case, also made by DLO, which I like better, even though it's bulkier.

I found this to be an unacceptable product for the following reasons:

- Thick bezel around the screen interferes with sliding action of fingers. Rather than sliding across a smooth surface my finger now bounces of the bezel, before it has even reached the edge of the active surface.
- The screen protector has much higher friction than the glass surface that I am used to. Clean fingers actually chatter and drag along the surface.
- Very bulky. This case adds about 65% to the thickness and 30% to the weight.
- The button action is terrible. No tactile feedback at all. I have to just press hard and watch for something to happen. This caused some interesting operating errors. The sleep button is worse than the main button, but both are terrible.
- The inner edge of the bezel acts as a lint and dust collector. One install and removal from my pocket and I had a nice rim of lint already, and I had to open the case to get rid of it.
