If you have big man arms probably will be too small. Pocket at the back is great for a hotel room key/ID/cash, while you are out jogging. The fact your ipod is covered is not an issue. Just select a long playlist and off you go. With some fiddling you can change the volume through the fabric. I have an old ipod and it fits in there snuggly.
